Apex Legends was released in 2019 by Electronic Arts (EA). Developed by Respawn Entertainment, it is a free Battle Royale game for everyone. What sets this game apart is the fact that it was released without any notice or marketing and is now one of the top games in its genre.

Being developed in secret and released suddenly, Apex Legends quickly became the object of interest. It has amassed relatively the same amount of popularity as its competitor, Fortnite Battle Royale, has. Apex Legends is a multiplayer game played online, player against player. The gameplay is simple. Players are in control of the Legends and form twenty teams with three players each. The style of communication is nonverbal, forcing players to rely on the ping system. Using their controllers, they alert their teammates about near enemies, resources, and strategies. Teammates who die in the game can be revived within a stipulated time.

The shrinking of the island happens at random places, requiring players to rush to certain safe zones. Each member has to reach every safe zone in order to survive. The game aims to eliminate all the teams on the server. The play area and island shrink with time, forcing players to interact and play with one another. This game is free and makes money through loot boxes and other microtransactions. Five seasons have already been released, each with new characters and resources.

Installation process

The game is free to play on PC. For installation, you have to first download and install EA’s Origin store on your PC from the official website. After this, launch Origin and search for Apex Legends. Click on the game after you’ve found it and follow the steps mentioned. Download the game and follow the steps of installation mentioned. If you buy the CD version, make sure your PC has a CD/DVD reader first. Then place the CD in the driver, open the file, click install, and follow the steps.

This game was released on 4th February 2019 and the Nintendo Switch version was released in 2020.

Is the game available to play only offline or both online and offline?

There is only an online mode available for Apex Legends. There are no playable modes available offline. Most Battle Royale games like Apex Legends are available online only. 

Does the game include credit purchases to play?

Yes, the game is monetized via microtransactions and loot boxes that can be bought with the in-game currency as well as real money. You can buy outfits, weapon accessories, etc. 

History of the company that developed the game

Respawn Entertainment, LLC is a video game development studio responsible for bringing us games like the Call of Duty series, the Titanfall series, etc. This American company was founded by Jason West and Vince Zampella in 2010, after they left Activision. On 1st December 2017, Electronic Arts (EA) acquired Respawn Entertainment and they created Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in November 2019. At the moment, Respawn Entertainment is developing Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.
