Developed by EA Dice and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 4 is the sequel to Battlefield 3 and was released in 2013.

The game is set in 2020, where advanced military tensions are rising between Russia and the USA. At the same time, China is becoming a growing militant power with Admiral Chang, the antagonist, trying to overthrow the Chinese government to get military support from Russia against the USA. 

Players get to play as Sgt. Daniel “Reck” Recker, who is the second-in-command of “Tombstone”, a special U.S. Marine Corps squad. With their team, players have to go to locations like Baku and Shanghai to prevent the Chinese from succeeding by carrying out different operations.

History of the company that developed the game: Battlefield 4 was developed by EA Digital Illusions CE AB (DICE) or EA DICE, which is the Swedish subsidiary of the company Electronic Arts or EA.

The video game developing studio is located in Stockholm, Sweden. Founded in 1992 by Olof Gustafsson, Markus Nyström, Fredrik Liljegren and Andreas Axelsson, this development studio has been working with Electronic Arts since 2006. They are responsible for several games like Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront, and Mirror’s Edge. 

From 2000 onwards, this company began to expand its horizons by acquiring developers like Refraction Games, Trauma Studios, and Sandbox Studios.

Then in 2006, EA bought all of DICE’s outstanding shares, officially transferring the ownership. It merged with EA and now has a center in Los Angeles as well.
